Sociedad 3 Real Madrid 3 - Ronaldo misses epic draw

Cristiano Ronaldo did not feature as Real Madrid fought to a dramatic 3-3 victory in La Liga against a spirited Real Sociedad side.

Ronaldo was missing after picking up a red card in last week's Copa del Rey final against Atletico Madrid but it didn't seem like Real Madrid would need him when Higuain steered home in just the 6th minute.

Callejon doubled Real's advantage in the 57th minute before goals from Xabi Prieto and then Griezmann put the home side level with 12 minutes remaining.

Khedira once again restored Madrid's advantage, but Prieto had the last laugh for Sociedad in the 90th minute to earn a point in an entertaining 3-3 draw.

Former Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has moved to rubbish rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo may leave the
Bernabeu at the end of this season.

Zidane, soon set to be appointed as Real's sporting director, spoke to L'Equipe about the situation and stated, "Ronaldo is happy at Madrid.

"0He is very important for the team and will not move to a different club next season."

Cristiano Ronaldo should be the best-paid player in the world, says Real Madrid president Florentino Perez

Cristiano Ronaldo should be the best-paid player in the world, says Real Madrid president Florentino Perez

Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez has stated his desire to ward off suitors for his club's prized asset Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has been the subject of transfer speculation this month, with rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

But Perez is desperate to keep the Portuguese attacker at the Bernabéu, and has suggested that the club will offer Ronaldo a record contract to retaun his services.

"I would like Cristiano Ronaldo to be the best-paid player in the world," said Perez. "We’re going to do everything at our hand to make him happy."

Ronaldo moved to Spain from Manchester United for a fee of £80m in 2009. Since then he has scored 146 goals in 135 games for Madrid.
He claimed to be unhappy at the club earlier in this season, but went on to have another spectacular
campaign, despite Real missing out on silverware under Jose Mourinho.
Perez played down the widely-reported player unrest under Mourinho, saying that Real's players had nothing bit praise for their departing manager.
"The players only had good words about Mourinho," he said. "They told me that he was the best.
"We don’t know who will be the new coach. We will talk about that during the next week. But we want Zinedine Zidane to be the leader of the project."

Real reach semis following Ronaldo rout

Real Madrid progressed to the last four of the Champions League 5-3 on aggregate despite a 3-2 defeat on the night to a Galatasaray side, whose second-half comeback had Jose Mourinho's side in a panic.

Already three goals up from the first leg at the Bernabeu, the tie was seemingly put to bed by Cristiano Ronaldo's seventh-minute strike, but an Emmanuel Eboue thunderbolt after 57 minutes brought Gala back level on the night, before Wesley Sneijder put the home side ahead after 70 minutes.

Seconds later Didier Drogba reduced the aggregate deficit further and although Real substitute Alvaro Arbeloa saw red late on, Ronaldo notched his second in injury time, as Madrid's quest for a 10th European Cup continued.
