Cristiano Ronaldo made all the difference at Old Trafford as Real Madrid came from behind to win by two goals to one in the Champions League, with Ronaldo scoring the decisive goal.

The match was evenly poised at 1-1 from the first leg match at the Bernabeu and both sides were cagey with so much at stake.

The deadlock was not broken until the 48th minute when Nani's tantalising cross was turned into his own net by Sergio Ramos after Welbeck's touch.

The turning point of the match game when Nani was given a red card for a high challenge deemed to be dangerous by the Turkish referee.

Real Madrid capitalised and substitute Luka Modric had a major impact. The Croatian scored the equaliser in the 66th minute when his effort from range flew into the net via a deflection off of the post.

It was of course that man Cristiano Ronaldo who was back to haunt his former club three minutes later. Higuain's exchange with Ozil was tidy in the box and his driven cross was perfectly weighted for Ronaldo to turn home at the far post. Ronaldo refused to celebrate despite the tie-winning strike which meant United would need an insurmountable two goals to progress.

Real Madrid will now progress to the quarter finals of the Champions League after their 3-2 aggregate win
